Marriage is not the end

of all your social needs. Here in america, we deal with marriage as starting off fresh, with a new family, with a new slate. But along with that comes dealing with all the issues that have been dealt with before in the prior families, and there is wisdom that is associated with that. But since so many of us leave and cleave without any ties to the extended family anymore, all that experience is not tapped and we are left to repeat some of the same mistakes that our predecessors made.

So marriage, while it is a new family, is necessary to have the extended family be involved in family life, in helping make some of the decisions that all need to be made in marriage. What I am saying is that so many of us can't wait to start a family on our own, but really is starting a family on our own really the best way? Many other cultures have multi-generations living in the same household and it works out well (as far as I know....) here we start over every generation and where does it get us? into divorce half the time. I'm sure that the divorce rate around the world is probably a little better than us...
