Ride

so this morning, I'm late to the train and I'm running down the street, nearly passing out when a 300c passes by, stops, reverses and says,

"do you need a ride to the train?"

at which point I jump into the back seat. I say thanks and we are off. I am barely able to talk because I'm breathing heavy and she is telling me not to worry, she's done this before.

I feel bad because I can't even get a word out and we get there and I say thanks and get out.

as I processed through that, I realized I didn't know how to deal with kindness coming out of the blue. I didn't know what I should have done besides say thank you. I could have struck up a conversation, which would have been the polite thing to do, but my mind tends to get stuck in my internal conversation that it's hard to get out of that mode of thinking and start up a conversation. So I probably came off a bit rude. Now I know why I don't engender endearment to others. :)
